After participating in the Write It Out Journal Workshop Series, some people are interested in participating in a deeper way, by providing leadership to others in this valuable experience. Obviously, we are very selective in our choice of the most qualified facilitators we can find. Perhaps you are an ideal candidate to help us with our work.
Position Requirements
- Prolific personal experience keeping a journal or diary
- Master's or Doctoral Degree in English, Composition, Rhetoric, Education, Psychology, Fine Arts, or any other degree that is applicable to facilitating a Journal-Writing Workshop
- Seven years' teaching or facilitating experience
- Participation in Workshops I, II, and III of The Write It Out Journal Workshop Series
- Participation in at least one 10-week ongoing writing group following a Write It Out Journal Workshop
- Participation or co-facilitation with at least one Thematic Journal Workshop
Suggested Skills and Attributes
While not required, the following skills, experiences and attributes have revealed themselves in our most successful candidates:
- Membership in the National Association of Poetry Therapy, the American Art Therapy Association, the National Coalition of Creative Arts Therapies Associations, the Society for Arts in Healthcare, or another organization of similar ilk.
- Experience in a structured journal-writing workshop like the Ira Progoff Intensive Journal Method or Kay Adams' Journal to the Self Workshops.
- Academic experience or personal exploration of diaries as literature.

Our Facilitators are paid for participating in Write It Out Journal Workshop Course Development. Payment for that time accompanies the first paycheck for facilitation of any Write It Out Workshop.
